Car crash into power pole cuts power to 1000 properties
A sedan hit a power pole on Leslie Street on September 19, leaving about 1000 properties without power across five suburbs.
The driver, a 26-year-old from Eaglehawk, lost control of the Toyota. The car was travelling south-west on Leslie Street, became airborne, and hit the pole before landing on a fence.
A 26-year-old passenger from Jackass Flat was also in the vehicle. The driver and passenger were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The damaged pole dangled after impact. Power was restored to most properties within hours.
Some areas remained without electricity for longer. Police are investigating whether speed and alcohol were factors.
The car was not stolen. It belonged to the driver's mother.
