Dean Solomon quit Essendon as interim coach to reunite with his family in NSW.
Dean Solomon stepped down as interim coach despite being offered multiple roles by new senior coach Mark McVeigh. Solomon spent almost 12 months living away from his wife and children in Kingscliff on the NSW north coast.
Essendon explored options to keep him. These included senior assistant positions and a fly-in, fly-out arrangement.
But Solomon decided to return home. Solomon had rejoined the Bombers as a board member in 2024 before moving into coaching last October.
He took over as interim coach when Brad Scott was sacked in May. He navigated a difficult season that saw the club win just one of its final 12 games.
