Ryan runs 448 kilometres in 32 days for breast cancer
A 22-year-old is running 14km daily through October and November to raise money for breast cancer research, inspired by his aunt's diagnosis.
Ryan Byard decided to run 448 kilometres from October 14 to November 14 after his aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer in July. About 14 per cent of Australian women experience the disease.
He's running 14km a day on a loop near his house, sometimes mixing in longer runs like last weekend's 10km race. Ryan's fundraising page started with a $500 goal but quickly topped $4000, so he's now aiming for $5000.
Byard said the support from friends, family and people around his town has kept him going, even through early blisters. The money goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation during national breast cancer month.
