Fanning crab-walks WA to dramatic two-wicket Shield win over Queensland
Injured opener Sam Fanning came in at number 10 and battled through a crippling hamstring to help WA claim a thrilling chase.
Western Australia pulled off a two-wicket victory over Queensland on Sunday at the WACA. Injured opener Sam Fanning played a crucial role despite severe hamstring damage that had left him on crutches the day before.
The 25-year-old could only crab-walk between the crease, nearly causing several run-outs. Fanning finished unbeaten on 14 off 82 balls, steadying the chase when WA needed 201 to win.
Skipper Aaron Hardie, who made 80 not out, sealed the result with Fanning's support. Hardie took man-of-the-match honours after paceman Jhye Richardson had earlier taken 5-19, rolling Queensland for 68.
