Wimmera farm ends 150 years in one family
The Quigley family is selling their 425-hectare broadacre farm in western Victoria, first selected by their ancestors in 1875.
The family farm near Douglas, 60 kilometres west of Horsham, has been in the hands of descendants of Michael and Margaret Quigley since March 1875, when Margaret selected 320 acres under Victoria's land laws at the time.
The property now spans 425 hectares and sits in a reliable rainfall district with varied soil types suited to mixed farming. The sale is being handled as a whole property or split into three separate lots.
The main home block includes two residences, woolshed, machinery sheds and silos. A second lot covers the Old House Paddock, and the third is Oakflat, each divided into paddocks and watered by natural catchment dams.
No price has been announced. Expressions of interest close on 30 October.
