Lewis Roberts-Thomson's role changed the course of Sydney's 2012 Grand Final win

John Longmire moved Lewis Roberts-Thomson to defence in the last quarter of the 2012 Grand Final, halting Hawthorn's momentum.

Sydney led Hawthorn by 28 points midway through the third term of the 2012 Grand Final at the MCG. The Hawks surged to leave the Swans trailing by 12 points early in the last quarter.

Longmire had a plan but missed the trigger earlier. When the Hawks surged again, he put Roberts-Thomson behind the ball.

Roberts-Thomson finished with 14 disposals, seven marks and a goal. Sydney kicked the final four goals to win.

AustraliaA reminder of Sydney's most recent premiership and the kind of flexible, smart football that wins Australia's biggest AFL game.
