Ballarat chicken farm shed fire contained in more than three hours, livestock safe
A 60-metre by 40-metre shed at a poultry farm near Ballarat burned fully but no animals were harmed.
Emergency services responded to a major fire at Moorabool Valley Eggs on Taylor Road, Meredith, about 11.20pm on 21 September. Twenty CFA units from across the region, alongside Fire Rescue Victoria, tackled the blaze which had fully engulfed the large shed.
Firefighters worked to stop the fire spreading to a nearby shed. The blaze was brought under control at 2.54am after more than three and a half hours.
Crews remained on site through the morning to extinguish hot spots. A company spokesperson said all livestock were safe and the farm was operating normally.
The cause is under investigation.
