Trump bans CNN, MS NOW and Politico from White House
President Trump has barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico reporters from the White House, calling them fake news outlets.
President Donald Trump has revoked White House access for CNN, MS NOW and Politico. The ban took effect immediately.
CNN reporter Betsy Klein and MS NOW correspondent Akayla Gardner were turned away on Saturday. Akayla's entry badge was disabled and taken by officers.
Politico reporter Cheyenne Haslett was also denied entry that same day. Trump said on Friday he was banning these outlets because of their coverage.
He called their reporting fake news. CNN issued a statement saying it stood behind its reporters and would not stop holding government accountable.
MS NOW said the White House belongs to the American people and promised to defend its First Amendment rights. The move marks an escalation in Trump's efforts to restrict access for media outlets he views as hostile.
