Mountain Pride Farms culls chickens over cruelty allegations
Mountain Pride Farms is culling chickens as part of a cruelty investigation. Animal welfare concerns came up first.
An egg farm on the NSW Central Coast is under investigation for animal cruelty. The farm is Mountain Pride Farms.
It is now culling its chickens. Authorities see this as an emergency response.
NSW Agriculture Minister Tara Moriarty told parliament today about this. An agency is looking into food safety and biosecurity concerns.
Eggs from the farm are being kept out of food supply chains. Yet some eggs were still being sold.
They were found at local markets and a petrol station. They came in plain packaging.
Animal Liberation released video footage showing dead and dying chickens at the farm. Concerns began in September 2025.
The farm's website says it makes high welfare and free range eggs. But the investigation has found something different.
