Danny Daly exits Brisbane coaching race
Danny Daly, Brisbane's football manager and coaching frontrunner, has withdrawn from the race to replace Chris Fagan.
Danny Daly has stepped back from his bid to become the next Lions coach after six seasons as the club's football manager. Danny Daly was seen as a strong contender alongside assistant coach Cameron Bruce to replace Chris Fagan.
Daly, 60, cited the physical and mental toll of another demanding campaign. Danny Daly will remain in his current role next season.
Just before Brisbane's Grand Final win against Fremantle, Daly told SEN radio he wanted to coach. He acknowledged his own doubts about lacking playing experience at the highest level.
