Motorcyclist's bike seized after police catch 116kmh dash in 60kmh zone
A 45-year-old motorcyclist on Dyson Drive was caught doing 116kmh in a 60kmh zone and his bike was impounded for a month.
Highway patrol officers in an unmarked car spotted the motorcyclist on Dyson Drive in Ballarat's west on Thursday, September 10. The rider was overtaking them.
Police alleged he was driving at almost double the speed limit. The rider was pulled over and released pending a court summons.
The motorcycle was impounded for 30 days. Towing and storage costs totalled more than $1400.
The stop came during Operation Talladega, a police blitz on high-risk driving. It also impounded four cars and issued 18 penalty notices across the city.
