Unmanned speed cameras have been approved for dozens of Victorian locations. They operate 24 hours daily, including multiple Hume Freeway sites.
Victoria has started using unmanned speed cameras that work around the clock. No operator is needed.
The devices were first used on the Hume Freeway north of Wangaratta. They have been approved for dozens of other sites across the North East region.
Unlike traditional camera cars, these machines work in any weather and lighting. The cameras photograph multiple vehicles at once.
They monitor both directions. A yellow triangle marks which car was speeding.
