Burglars strip Canberra home of $33,000 in goods and car
A Canberra couple lost over $33,000 in valuables and their car in a brazen August break-in.
A Canberra couple returned from a coastal birthday trip on August 21 to find their Bruce home stripped of valuables. Thieves stole seven watches, jewelry, a phone, gaming consoles, tablets, and fitness gear, along with their 2019 Hyundai Venue.
The burglars allegedly used stolen credit cards for food and fuel in Gundagai before returning to the property days later. The couple later discovered the abandoned car, badly damaged, face-down in a stream in the NSW Southern Tablelands.
The total loss exceeds $33,000, derailing their plans to start a family. Police have linked the stolen car to several other burglaries in the area and released images of a suspect with distinctive arm tattoos.
