Adam Simpson rules out North Melbourne coaching role
Simpson, who won a premiership with West Coast, decided the Kangaroos job wasn't right for him.
Adam Simpson, a North Melbourne great who won a premiership with West Coast in 2018, has ruled out applying for the Kangaroos' head coach role. Simpson played 306 games for North and was widely expected to be a leading candidate.
Alastair Clarkson was sacked from the position earlier this month. Simpson said on Thursday that upon reflection, the role simply wouldn't work for him.
"I was on the precipice, but I came to the decision to pass," Simpson told radio. The Kangaroos are now searching for a new head coach with John Longmire, Jaymie Graham, Corey Enright and Xavier Clarke among the candidates.
