Senator Alex Antic says Coalition must partner with One Nation to win

Senator Alex Antic says the Coalition needs to work with One Nation at the next election.

Senator Alex Antic won the South Australian division of the Liberal Party presidency on Saturday with 119 votes to 73. Antic predicted the Coalition and One Nation will need to work together at the next election to help defeat Labor.

Antic told Reality Check Radio Monday this cooperation is politically necessary. One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce supported this idea.

Joyce said he spoke to senior Liberals about supply and confidence. This would happen if Opposition Leader Angus Taylor wins enough seats for a minority government.

Polls suggest this outcome is unlikely. Conservative powerbrokers in Canberra worry Antic is getting closer to One Nation leaders Pauline Hanson and Corey Bernardi.
