British actress Stephanie Cole, best known for Tenko and Coronation Street, died at 84 after living with Alzheimer's.
Stephanie Cole has died aged 84. She was perhaps best known for her role as Dr Beatrice Mason in the 1980s BBC drama Tenko.
Cole had been living with Alzheimer's for several years. Stephanie Cole trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
She made her stage debut at 17. She went on to enjoy a long career across television, theatre and radio.
She was known for roles in Open All Hours and Coronation Street as Sylvia Goodwin. She appeared in the ITV medical drama Doc Martin.
She won comedy prizes for Waiting For God. She starred in the BBC Radio 4 sitcom Cabin Pressure alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.
Her agent said she brought joy to millions. She will be remembered for her tireless work supporting mental health charities.
