Reece Parker, 28, was sentenced to six months in prison after he tried to stab a family member. The attack happened at an off-grid property near Ballarat.
Parker had mixed his partner's prescription medication with several glasses of wine before the attack. During the assault, he took three knives to a shipping container and tried to stab the victim in the chest and back.
The victim got a cut to his finger during the struggle before escaping and reporting the incident. The magistrate told Parker his crime showed serious criminal intent.
He warned that until Parker stops using drugs and alcohol, prison would not be his last sentence.
