Man fined after police taser deployed in Surfers Paradise brawl
One man was fined over $1000 and two others banned from the Safe Night Precinct after a brawl escalated on Orchard Av.
Police were called to Orchard Av in Surfers Paradise about 2am on Sunday to break up a large brawl. Officers deployed a taser to stop the escalating violence.
A 43-year-old man from Aratula was issued an infringement notice and fined more than $1000 for public nuisance. An 18-year-old from Aratula and a 19-year-old from McKimba were issued banning notices from the Safe Night Precinct.
Police won't confirm which man was tasered. Footage appears to show a security guard throwing punches, but he has not been charged or fined.
Chief Superintendent Kylie Rigg said the officers used force they believed was reasonable to stop the violence.
