Apple Pie Day returns to Glenbernie as family honors Glenn Fahey
Apple Pie Day returns to Glenbernie Orchard on September 27, honouring Glenn Fahey, who died in July.
Glenn Fahey and his wife Jo-Anne created Apple Pie Day at Glenbernie Orchard near Darkes Forest to bring families together. Glenn died on July 9, aged 63, just months after being diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumour.
Jo-Anne says he is still present across the farm: every part carries his fingerprints. The 10th Apple Pie Day will go ahead on September 27, centred on apple pie and crumble competitions judged by family and staff.
Families can bring picnic blankets, children enjoy storytelling in the orchard and a mud kitchen. The Faheys have run the orchard since 1939.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Country Women's Association, as Glenn had always intended.
