A Canberra principal used his ancestor's Prime Minister link to photograph his 1996 wedding at The Lodge.
David Austin grew up in Canberra and wanted somewhere special for his 1996 wedding photos. He wrote to newly elected Prime Minister John Howard and explained his family history.
His great-grandfather was Joseph Lyons, Australia's 10th Prime Minister, and his grandmother had lived at The Lodge as a girl. Howard agreed.
After their ceremony, David and his wife Katherine went to The Lodge for photographs. A security guard told David this had never happened before.
