Dorset Council extends interim manager's role by six months
Dorset Council has extended interim manager Jayne Miller's appointment by six months to March 2027.
Dorset Council general manager John Marik ended his role three months early in August. He said health and wellbeing reasons.
Jayne Miller, the council's community and development services director, was appointed as interim leader. Miller will now stay in the role through March 2027.
Mayor Rhys Beattie said the council chose to extend Miller. They did not hire an external interim manager instead.
This keeps known leadership in place during uncertain times. Marik had spent nine years with the council.
Four of those were as general manager. He led it through a Board of Inquiry and various projects.
The mayor said finding Marik's permanent replacement in 2027 will not be rushed.
