Medication and wine mix triggered stabbing attempt, court told
A 28-year-old man mixed his partner's prescription pills with seven glasses of wine then attempted to stab a family member.
On March 22, 2026, Reece Parker had a severe mental health crisis at an off-grid property in Redbank, Victoria. After drinking seven glasses of wine and taking his partner's prescription pills, he grabbed three knives and attacked a family member at a shipping container.
Parker tried to stab the victim in the chest and back. The victim got a cut on his finger during the fight.
The victim pushed Parker away and ran to call police. Officers found Parker still holding the three knives.
Parker told them he had snapped and had to kill the victim. At the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on September 9, Parker pleaded guilty to several charges.
His lawyer told the court that the mix of alcohol and pills had triggered his dangerous mental health episode. Parker must stay in custody until sentencing on September 17.
