Crows defender Josh Worrell admits running red light, striking pedestrian
Josh Worrell pleaded guilty to driving without due care after hitting a pedestrian in July.
The 25-year-old defender entered a guilty plea in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday for driving without due care. The collision happened on 10 July on Port Road in Woodville when Worrell cut a red light and struck a pedestrian at a crossing.
The court heard he was potentially distracted at the time. Prosecutors said his conduct "fell well short" of expected driving standards, though the pedestrian was not more seriously hurt.
Worrell immediately stopped, took the pedestrian to hospital and waited with him for three hours to ensure he was okay, before reporting late for training. The magistrate ruled out a prison sentence but adjourned to consider what penalty to impose.
A second charge of failing to report the accident was dropped. Sentencing continues on 3 November.
