Steven Fenwick inquest set for November, eight years after Stockton
An inquest into Steven Fenwick's disappearance will start in Newcastle Coroners Court in November.
Steven Fenwick, known as "Feno", was 33 when he vanished on January 30, 2019, from Stockton in the Hunter region. Fenwick got off a bus at Fern Bay around 1pm after collecting poker machine winnings earlier that day.
Fenwick then walked to Stockton where he was supposed to meet an associate at Corroba Oval around 2.30am. Fenwick was never seen again.
Despite extensive land and sea searches of sand dunes, bushland, and Stockton Beach, his body has not been found. Some of his clothes and possessions were discovered in the dunes.
Detectives suspected foul play rather than accidental drowning, believing his belongings were deliberately placed to create a false impression. A $500,000 reward for information has not led to his discovery.
The one-week coronial inquest will examine whether he is dead and, if so, the date, place, cause and manner of death.
