A man boarded Jetstar flight JQ562 without a boarding pass on Wednesday, delaying the Melbourne-Brisbane service.
A man slipped past Jetstar staff and boarded flight JQ562 from Melbourne to Brisbane on Wednesday morning without a boarding pass. The man was spotted at the back of the plane just before takeoff, prompting authorities to be called.
The flight was scheduled to depart at 9:35am but did not leave until 10:09am. The flight landed in Brisbane 28 minutes late.
Australian Federal Police confirmed officers were called to Melbourne Airport about 10am following reports of an alleged airside security breach. An AFP spokesman said investigations were underway and declined to comment further at the time.
The incident exposed a gap in security procedures at a major Australian airport.
