Three-year-old dies after being struck by car in Auburn driveway
A three-year-old girl playing in her Auburn driveway was struck by a Range Rover and died from critical injuries.
The girl was playing with her brother in the front yard of her Normanby Road home when a Range Rover pulled into the driveway about 2pm on Tuesday. The girl suffered critical injuries and died in hospital a short time later.
The driver, 27-year-old Sandip Adhikari, fled the scene on CCTV before later returning, where he was arrested and charged with negligent driving causing death. CCTV footage captured the girl playing moments before the collision.
Adhikari lives in a granny flat at the back of the property. He did not enter a plea at his first court appearance; the matter was adjourned until 27 October.
