Man sentenced after Uber dispute turns to axe threat
Zac Caddick, 28, was sentenced to an 18-month adjourned undertaking after brandishing a tomahawk in an escalated argument over an Uber fare.
Zac Caddick, a Ballarat panel beater, faced court on 15 September 2026 and pleaded guilty to unlawful assault. In November 2023, Caddick and another man argued during an Uber ride to Mount Helen about who would pay.
The other man got out and walked. When he arrived at Caddick's house, Caddick did not open the door.
After the victim tried several times to enter, Caddick walked outside with a tomahawk and confronted him. The next day Caddick was verbally aggressive again.
The magistrate noted Caddick's limited criminal history and that nearly three years had passed since the incident. As part of the sentence, Caddick was banned from possessing any weapon and ordered to consult his doctor about a mental health plan.
