Ballarat man refused bail after assault with wooden stick
Jesse James Turner was arrested for allegedly beating a woman with a wooden stick and attacking a teenager with a hockey stick.
Jesse James Turner appeared in Ballarat Magistrates' Court seeking bail. He was arrested for allegedly beating a woman with a large wooden stick.
Police say they found the victim in blood-stained clothing at a Ballarat house on Tuesday. A witness told officers they saw Turner hit her in the back with the stick.
He then jumped a fence and fled. Officers found Turner nearby in a heavily drunken state and seized the wooden stick.
The police informant told the court Turner allegedly attacked a teenage boy about two weeks earlier. He allegedly hit the boy in the head with a hockey stick and punched him in the face and back of the head.
Magistrate Vicky Prapas refused bail. She called the allegations a serious example of the offences and noted Turner's history of failing to comply with court orders.
