Newcastle Knights grand final will pump $20 million into NSW economy
The Knights' grand final run delivers an estimated $20 million boost to NSW economy.
Newcastle's grand final run is boosting the Hunter economy. A live site sold 22,500 tickets this week.
Fans will consume about 5000 litres of beer and 15,000 bottles of water and soft drinks. They'll eat 1.25 tonnes of hot chips, 375 kg of chicken, 2500 meat pies, 1750 hot dogs and 1750 sausage rolls.
The stadium will hire 350 extra staff. Hunter Business chief executive Bob Hawes said the boost is helping retail, hospitality and transport companies that have struggled with high living costs and fuel prices.
Some businesses are making money fast: butchers selling blue and red sausages, retailers making special edition T-shirts, and cafes painting walls in club colours.
