Stolen car strikes woman near Melbourne Marathon, teen arrested
Woman in her 50s hit by stolen car on Flinders Street during event.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested after driving a stolen Ford Escape into a pedestrian on Flinders Street on Sunday morning. The car struck a woman in her 50s at the intersection with Elizabeth St about 10:45am, near the Melbourne Marathon route.
The boy failed to stop and made a U-turn outside Flinders Street Station, where he is believed to have struck several unoccupied parked cars. The woman was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital with upper body injuries.
The stolen vehicle was taken from a business in Cranbourne South at 2am that morning. The teenager was arrested shortly after in Albert Park.
