Student protesters gathered at a One Nation fundraiser cruise to oppose the party's candidates.
One Nation candidates Stuart Bonds and Mike Newman arrived at a harbour cruise fundraiser at Queens Wharf in Newcastle on Sunday. They walked past about 20 student protesters who lined the route.
The protesters chanted against One Nation, calling the party racist. They accused it of blaming migrants and Indigenous people for problems.
Bonds downplayed the clash, telling the Newcastle Herald that protests boost his social media visibility. Senator Malcolm Roberts also attended the cruise.
Speaker Jack Munafo said One Nation was using voter anger at Labor. He blamed Labor for hurt living standards and higher costs of living.
