Truck driver jailed after fatal Bulli Pass crash conviction
Mosa Vaimalu, 42, had bail revoked after being found guilty of dangerous driving causing the death of his cousin on Bulli Pass.
Truck driver Mosa Vaimalu has been taken into custody after his bail was revoked following his conviction for a fatal crash on Bulli Pass. On August 27, the Penrith man was found guilty of dangerous driving occasioning death and two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
The collision happened on February 16, 2024, when Vaimalu's furniture removalist truck hit a BMW near Thirroul, then crashed into a concrete barrier. Mikaio Isaako, 43, Vaimalu's cousin, died at the scene.
Mikaio's brother Robert Isaako, 40, and the BMW driver were seriously injured. Judge Lara Gallagher revoked bail, citing the catastrophic injuries, Vaimalu's poor record and an expected jail term exceeding more than three years.
Vaimalu was escorted from Campbelltown District Court in custody on September 18.
