Chef found guilty of manslaughter in stabbing death

Robert Mathew Marshall has been found guilty of manslaughter after a jury trial in the NSW Supreme Court. Robert Mathew Marshall stabbed Adam Cordingley three times during a scuffle on his farm near Goulburn on 23 March 2024.

Cordingley, 38, died from a deep wound to his hip that severed an artery. Jurors rejected Marshall's claim of self-defence.

The confrontation followed Marshall's affair with Cordingley's former partner Kate, who is now raising their four young sons. Cordingley's parents told the court they had already lost one son to an accident years earlier, and losing a second child was devastating.
