Dustfall: Anna Torv leads a thoughtful ABC crime drama
The six-part crime drama airs at 8.20pm on Sundays on ABC TV, and all episodes stream on ABC iview.
Anna Torv plays detective Tig Pollard, who moves into her late grandmother's house in North Gap, Queensland. An 18-year-old is found in a local cane field with very little memory of the night before.
Tig is still drained from a bruising, high-profile trial when this new case arrives. The review says the show is less interested in how the crime happened than in the social conditions around it.
The writers take on themes including misogyny, victim-blaming and complicity. The drama has an emotional pull not often found in detective shows, the review says.
Director Emma Freeman and her writers adapt Vikki Petraitis's novel The Unbelieved. Dustfall airs at 8.20pm on Sundays on ABC TV, and all episodes stream on ABC iview.
