Woman survives after ute crashes through bedroom wall in Tamworth
A woman in her 60s was struck by a ute that crashed through her bedroom, suffering deep cuts and spinal injuries.
A ute hit a street sign, jumped the kerb and smashed through a brick wall into a bedroom in West Tamworth just after 11pm on Tuesday. The woman sleeping inside, aged in her 60s, was thrown across the room by the impact.
The woman managed to free herself from the debris and was treated at Tamworth Hospital, where she remains. The other man in the home was unhurt.
Police say she survived through 'an act of God'. CCTV footage shows a man running from the crash minutes later.
The driver has not come forward, and police are investigating the vehicle's speed and manner of driving before the crash.
