Brothers coach Dubbo Kangaroos to first premiership in 12 years
Tom Koerstz, forced to retire by concussions, coached his brother to help Dubbo Kangaroos win the Blowes Cup.
Dubbo Kangaroos defeated Orange Emus 35-15 on September 5, ending a 12-year premiership drought. Tom and his brother Angus steered the team together in 2026.
Tom had retired ahead of the 2025 season after repeated concussions made basic tasks difficult. Their father coached the Roos in the 1990s.
Angus credited Tom's coaching experience, and Tom called coaching alongside his brother incredibly special.
