Older Apple TV models get Siri AI upgrade this fall
Apple TV 4K models dating back to 2021 will receive Siri AI as beta software in tvOS 27.2, arriving this fall.
Apple is extending Siri AI to several older Apple TV 4K models, reaching back to the second-generation box released in 2021. The feature will roll out as part of tvOS 27.2 this fall in beta form.
Older boxes lack the built-in far-field microphones of the new model, so they will use the microphone button on the remote instead. The older boxes' compatibility with smart home controls from tvOS 27.2 remains unclear, since they were not designed with the AI assistant in mind and have less processing power.
Apple has not specified which aspects of Siri AI will be available on the older generation.
