Uber driver locked passenger in car, demanded payment at Melbourne Airport

A woman was locked in an Uber at Melbourne Airport when the driver demanded payment for a supposedly failed PIN code.

Fatima was returning from a business trip at Melbourne Airport when her Uber driver claimed her PIN code didn't work. The driver demanded she transfer him money plus pay toll costs.

When she refused, she tried to open the car door but found it locked. Fatima called Triple Zero fearing he might hurt her or drive off.

Police said they would not investigate unless other passengers reported the same driver. Melbourne Airport's CEO demanded an explanation from Uber.
