Spirit of Tasmania booking site crashes as ferries sell out
Booking website crashed within hours of opening sales for the new Spirits IV and V ferries.
The Spirit of Tasmania booking website crashed this morning as demand for tickets to the new Spirits IV and V ferries overwhelmed the system. Tickets were set to go live at 10am but users were placed in a queue due to high demand.
By 11am, bookings could be viewed but not completed. Bookings for the new pet-friendly cabins and previously sold-out sailing dates are available for the first time.
The new ferries carry 301 cabins and hold an extra 470 passengers compared to the older ships. They also have three times the caravan capacity.
The inaugural sailing on 31 October is not yet confirmed, with details to be released soon. Service is between Geelong and Devonport.
