Jess Wilson's Liberals pledge $20m fix for Kiewa Valley black spot

The Victorian Liberals promise $20 million for a roundabout at the Anzac Parade and Kiewa Valley Highway intersection.

The Victorian Liberals have promised $20 million to fix a dangerous black spot in the North East. Liberal candidate Steve Martin announced the plan on Tuesday, October 13.

It is for the Anzac Parade and Kiewa Valley Highway intersection. Planning papers name a roundabout as the preferred option.

The papers did not pick an overpass or traffic lights. Mr Martin got the papers through a freedom of information request.

He said planning and environmental studies must come first. So he cannot give an exact start date.

Party leader Jess Wilson has already promoted the policy. A video shows her at the intersection on an earlier visit.

Evan Mulholland, the opposition's transport spokesperson, said the Parliamentary Budget Office had fully costed the $20 million. Mr Mulholland said the Hume is a federal road.

That means a federal government must be willing to commit to the project.
