Two men charged as police seize 1465 cannabis plants across Hunter Region
Police charged two men after raids uncovered 1465 cannabis plants. The plants were worth about $4 million. The raids took place over two months across the NSW Hunter Region.
Two men, aged 36 and 56, were arrested. Raids took place across the Hunter Region over more than two months.
Detectives raided a Cessnock home on July 21. They found 260 mature cannabis plants in an elaborate hydroponic setup.
Further searches at properties in Cessnock and Denman on Tuesday found another 280 plants. Subsequent raids at Muswellbrook and Singleton Heights uncovered 925 more plants.
Police say all properties were illegally connected to the power grid. The 36-year-old faced five charges.
These included growing cannabis and stealing electricity. The 56-year-old faced three charges.
Both were denied bail. They must appear in Newcastle Local Court on November 25.
