Gus Lamont would have turned five last month, but his home near Yunta feels frozen in time, and he vanished almost a year ago from Oak Park Station. On Sunday the family will mark that grim anniversary.
Grandmother Josie Murray refuses to accept he is gone. Murray said she has a feeling he is still alive somewhere.
The family is now planning to search every wedge-tailed eagle nest on their property, following a theory that an eagle may have taken him. It is highly unlikely, but Murray said it should be investigated.
Police have been thorough: the property has been searched 11 times, three dams drained, six mine shafts checked.
