Stan Tyson takes Deloraine coach job after premiership success at Devonport
Stan Tyson, 27, returns to coach Deloraine after helping Devonport win two recent premierships.
Stan Tyson has been named head coach of Deloraine, the club his father Kent played for before winning an undefeated premiership at North Launceston in 1998. Tyson grew up playing juniors for the Roos and progressed to seniors.
He then moved to Devonport 40 minutes away and played 73 games. He was part of the club's two most recent premierships.
Nick Milbourne stepped down after declining his third-year option. Tyson is now 27 and plans to bring Devonport's system to Deloraine.
He calls it a roles-based approach. Players know their specific job rather than chasing disposals.
He will focus on coaching but said he may still play if needed. A key priority is recruiting local players back from Launceston and the Coast, where many Deloraine juniors have drifted to play.
