Two P-platers caught speeding near about 200kmh on Hunter roads
A 23-year-old P1 motorbike rider and 17-year-old driver were caught doing roughly double the speed limit in separate incidents.
Highway patrol clocked a Honda motorbike rider doing 198kmh in a 110kmh zone at Buchanan near Maitland on Wednesday morning. The 23-year-old held a red P1 licence, which limits riders to just 90kmh.
The 23-year-old's licence was suspended for six months and he was fined $3135 for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45kmh. The night before, police caught an orange Toyota 86 doing 203kmh on the M1 at Cameron Park.
The 17-year-old driver was also a P1 licence holder. He was charged with dangerous driving and faces court in October.
Police said both drivers ignored speed limits designed to protect everyone on the road.
