Seven-year-old Oliver and grandfather raise $39,227 for cancer
Albury's Oliver Russell, seven, and his grandfather Scott raised $39,227 at the Lunchbox Rally to fund cancer research.
Oliver and his grandfather Scott joined the Lunchbox Rally for the first time. They drove together through remote outback locations in an old Commodore.
The pair was known as The Good Ship Ollie Pop team. Oliver and Scott finished as the rally's top fundraiser with $39,227 raised for cancer research.
Scott is a retired Albury police officer. He had taken part in the adult rally for years.
He waited for Oliver to be old enough to join him. The four-day event left from Dubbo.
It gave them time together. They camped in a swag.
Oliver and Scott faced road adventures and met other rally families. Oliver said the best part was knowing the money would help people with cancer.
