Memphis Auld, 18, was denied bail. He allegedly injured multiple sheep with firearms and weapons at a Tuggeranong property.
Memphis Auld is 18 and from Richardson. On Friday, he was denied bail.
Police say he was part of a group that entered a Tuggeranong property on September 16 and 17. The group used dogs to round up eight sheep into a pen.
They then deliberately hurt the sheep using firearms and sharp weapons. One sheep died from its injuries.
Another sheep was put down because its wounds were too severe. The house on the property was torn apart during this incident.
Police say the firearm used remains missing. Magistrate Alexandra Burt denied bail.
She cited evidence that the group tried to hide the weapon and change vehicle number plates. She found Auld posed a flight risk and could interfere with the case.
Why it mattersAnimal cruelty using weapons creates public safety risks. Holding Auld in custody ensures he cannot interfere with evidence or harm others.
