Meta cuts VR glasses price to $1299, undercutting Apple
Meta unveiled VR glasses for $1299 launching spring 2027, cheaper than Apple's Vision Pro.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced multiple new devices at the company's annual Connect conference. The Meta VR Glasses will cost $US1299 and ship in spring 2027, weighing about as much as a deck of playing cards.
The Meta VR Glasses put them well below Apple's Vision Pro and respond to complaints that VR headsets are too heavy and costly for everyday use. The company also unveiled Charm, a small handheld device about the size of an AirPods case, for using its Muse AI assistant; it ships in December but Meta did not announce a price.
A third device, Ray-Ban Meta Audio, offers smart glasses without cameras, responding to privacy concerns. The camera-free glasses ship from October 13 at $US349.
