Atlassian's Sydney headquarters to run on community solar power
Atlassian will source nearly 70% of its new Sydney headquarters electricity from a community-owned solar farm.
The tech company signed a virtual power purchase agreement with Goulburn Community Energy Co-operative. The farm runs 2,300 solar panels and a battery system on 2.2 hectares of industrial land.
The solar and battery farm connected to the grid in March 2026 after 12 years of development. Atlassian's 39-storey Sydney headquarters, opening in 2028, will receive clean power from day one.
The farm is owned by about 288 local investors who each contributed a minimum of $400. The deal follows a $2.3 million NSW government grant, as debate grows over whether tech companies should invest in renewable energy.
