Two freed with suspended sentences in fatal Ipswich shooting over stolen
Two men received suspended sentences; one got nine years jail for the fatal 2021 Ipswich shooting.
Three men were sentenced Thursday for their roles in the fatal 2021 shooting of Carlo Piero Stewart, 31. The incident started as a dispute over stolen motorbikes.
Stewart and nine others confronted Brayden Alan Wilson-Knight at his North Booval home. Wilson-Knight got a gun, and Tye Joshua Bickle fired it ten times in seven seconds.
Stewart was shot in the thighs and back and died. All three men pleaded guilty to manslaughter and grievous bodily harm.
Justice Peter Callaghan sentenced Wilson-Knight to nine years with parole from April 2028. Bickle and Wilkins both got wholly suspended five-year terms and were freed on parole Thursday.

Why it mattersThe sentencing reflects courts weighing the circumstances of each person's role: Wilson-Knight escalated the danger by obtaining the gun, while Bickle and Wilkins faced pressure in an already violent situation.
AustraliaThe case shows how Queensland courts handle fatal confrontations arising from property disputes; the suspended sentences for two of the three convicted have drawn attention to sentencing discretion in manslaughter cases.
