Lavington pool overhaul likely scrapped after cost surges past $55 million

More detailed design work and geotechnical testing caused the rise. Building inflation also played a role.
Councillors can choose three options: a $32.4 million option without a water polo pool, a $25 million capped budget, or cancel the project. Staff said the $25 million plan is strongest.
It balances cost, future changes, and community benefit. The pool was due to open next month for the 2026-2027 season.
